Train sim world vs train simulator 20218/19/2023 ![]() ![]() The SD40-2 might have been retired from service in 1989, but Train Sim World 3’s dynamic weather offers a scenario where you take the mighty freight hauler down to San Bernardino in a pouring rainstorm, navigating around landslides that have besieged rail lines. Pleasingly, there is delight in the game’s selection of classic engines, as well. Rounding out the highlights is London’s Hitachi Rail 395 SEB, where you’ll ensure commuters between the capital city and Kent all make it to work on time. A taste for speed can be satisfied with Germany’s ICE 1, where you’ll enjoy simulated 280 km/h sprints across tunnels, bridges, and the Bavarian countryside. Ideal for hauling heavy loads, you’ll be able to navigate the Cajon Pass, where steep grades contributed to at least four derailments in the last forty years. You’ll (literally) climb into GE Transportation Systems’ ES44C4, a diesel-electric behemoth with 4,400 horsepower. So instead of reinventing the (rail) wheel, they gradually refine it, adding elements to modernize the visuals and polish the user interface.įor owners of 2020’s Train Sim World 2, that means the standard edition adds a requisite selection of new trains and locales. First, is that they take an iterative approach to their efforts, with each version building on the foundations of its predecessor, much like the annual sports game. ![]() ![]() But before heading into their latest effort, there are a few things to know. With the release of Train Sim World 3, UK-based Dovetail Games continues its legacy as one of the dominant developers of locomotive simulations in the West. But the most immersive ones, such as the Japanese Rail Sim series, place you in the role of an engineer, safely shuttling commuters or cargo between cities. Some like Railway Empire and A-Train 3D: City Simulator let you become a rail magnate who is tasked with building a profitable company from the ground up. As such, I tackle nearly every locomotive simulation I can get my hands on. But as someone lucky enough to have lived in cities with robust passenger rail lines, trains will always be my favorite way to get around. Sure, the car is the dominant method of personal transportation in the US. I think I'll go with TS2020.Digital Availability: Steam, PlayStation Store, and the Microsoft Store Probably missed some and some we don't all agree upon - constructive add-ons most welcome. Joystick and other controllers supported by 3rd party appsĭTG Covers UK, USA, Canada, Germany, France, Japan, China, etc Graphics reasonable but not as good as TSWĮasy to operate keys, switches, knobs etc. Weather is set but has some awesome addons, no real world time and weather Some very realistic loco models availableĭirectX 9.0c (the slowest of all DirectX's) Thousands upon thousands of Community Scenarios. Plethora of DTG DLC, Routes, Locos, Re-skins Need some dexterity for some switches etcĮnd to end plus Shunting and other duties, much more variable than TSW Limited controllers work with TSW – no Raildriver yet. Sound is reasonable, but no 3rd party add-onsĭirectX 10.0 (really needs 11.0 and/or 12.0) Mods, addons, etcĭriver can walk and do duties he/she is not meant to do (coupling)īetter Weather/Time selection – no real world time and weather I think the TSW Unreal Engine is much better, everything looks good, everything runs much softer and better, I don't regret the purchase. ![]() So I think who you have a good PC, is not averse to driving by train, you should give the TSW a chance, whom you do not support and do not buy, so it will not be able to grow, we as consumers It is in our hands whether we pump money into the old TS2020 or we prefer to have the whole thing better in a bigger size in the TSW.You decide.I find the TSW much more beginner than the TS2020. Current (as of ) there are a total of 33 with all add-ons Locomotives. If someone is wondering how many kilometers you can travel in total (as of ) with all current add-ons at the moment, it is exactly 607.79 kilometers, in miles it is 377.66 miles, so I had to do some research, but the number is still decisive with a purchase because there is often criticism compared to the Train Simulator 2020 that is not yet so much to drive in Train Sim World but I think who will reach for the TSW and the game will be played every evening for 2-3 hours he thinks I will be busy for a long time until he drives all the 607.79Km up and down in all possible weather conditions and with all the locomotives that are currently available. ![]()
